It’s a Brand New Day: This piece utilizes a technique
found in the work of composers such as Boulez and Verese,

Lost: Lost is a song that relies on its
stark differences in dynamics to be a powerful and effective
piece. No part of the song should sound forced. The opening
quarter note pattern in the Bass part can be envisioned as
foot steps in a barren place with no one around. The remainder
of the song builds upon the desperation of being lost in an
undesirable place.

Concerto for Tenor
(C) Pan and Orchestra in Three Movements: Three
movements showcase not only the lead soloist but the orchestra
as well. The open-ended cadenza section leaves room for
an improvised solo. It will certainly impress both a traditional
Western audience as well as hard-core pannists. Arranged
for Solo Tenor and full orchestra.
Composed by: Mike Catania
Difficulty: 5/5

|
Flight of the Bumblebee: The key to the success of this piece lies in two areas: The physical dexterity of the soloist and the ability of the band to balance. This is a direct transcription, with a few minor adjustments made to suit the range of the pan. In other transcriptions and recordings, the lead drops out some of the notes in the beginning passages, ruining the continuity of the lines. In this transcription, the notes have been adjusted to keep the soloist playing throughout the piece.
Composed by: Mike Catania
Arranged for: Solo L- L-DT-DS-G
